Last week of work. I came in today and there was a note telling me to sit with "the boys" today... turns out, the new intern is here already and she got my desk. "Sitting with the boys" is code for doing creative work, so I wasn't overly upset... it just sucks that my time here is basically over, and that everyone is moving on to the next thing already. I'll have to hijack my desk to clear out all my old files, emails, and random invoices and post-its that are all over the place.
The new girl seems nice, at least. She had a major problem with the phones (aka, she didn't answer unless prompted to), which bothered the other people who had to stop their work, answer, tell the caller to bugger off, and then hang up. She's extremely over-qualified for the job (speaks like four languages, knows people in high places, has another internship lined up-- I learned all this in the first and only conversation we had). I got some small satisfaction from seeing her run around like a chicken to make tea and then try to finish her work. It was really crazy today-- two meetings and preparing for a business trip tomorrow-- so everyone was harassed and busy.
American jokes have been flying fast and heavy this last week, and today was the same. I don't really mind (I say half of the same stuff anyways), but when it's constant and from the same person, it gets old. I'd like to think it's because everyone is pretty relaxed around me and can be comfortable joking around.
I'll really miss these people and this job.
I'm a bit sad about leaving, trying not to think of it.
