Once Upon A Time... When Public Transport Was Fun

I was walking down the Strand yesterday, heading toward Trafalgar Square to meet my mom and aunt... when I spied an old Routemaster. These are the original bad-assy red buses with the open back, so people can just hop on and off at will. I had ridden one a while back, originally psyched out of my mind. Then, the tiny seats and the low ceiling, plus the shortened tourist route, made me decide I prefer the new buses. However. This bus was slowing down and I was running late, so I sped up to catch the bus. It had just dropped off one person and started moving out of the bus lane, so I broke into a jog and then a faster run and then a sprint as it hit traffic and was forced to brake a bit. As I approached the bus from the back, it started to rev up speed again, so I threw my arm into the bus, grabbed the yellow pole, and swung myself into the back of the bus as it was peeling off.

I could barely catch my breath from laughing, and I gleefully grabbed a seat and tapped my Oyster card as the conductor came around. What. A. Rush. Those damn buses need to be reinstated like RIGHT NOW.
