Friend, Sans France

Jess has come and gone. We saw the city: downtown in the rain, northwest side and Wrigleyville for shopping, Lincoln Park for the market and the zoo. Pitchfork was really good this year-- I loved The Hold Steady and Fleet Foxes was gorgeous, if a bit too mellow. Vampire Weekend rocked me and the teenagers who were all around. There was also much eating. I think a good time was had by all.

I was doing my usual blog-rounds and found a picture taken around the corner from my old apartment. Surprise. I remember stumbling across that place on my first real look around the city. It was intensely quiet there: of course, the school next to the wall was reliable for turning up the volume every morning and afternoon. I have basically the same picture somewhere, floating around my flickr stream.
