Weekend Update

This week, I did these things but didn't get around to writing about them. They were:

- Seeing the Courbet exhibit at the Grand Palais. It was at night after work, with some kids from PIP and my art history prof, so I was tired. But it was pretty good, minus the "Forests of Fountainbleu" period of his life-- it's much too dark and dreary. I love the self-portraits and the photographs by his friends. I went through fast, but meh. Thumbs up.

-Thanksgiving at my program director's house. We had turkey, stuffing, gravy, veggies, mashed potatoes, the works. The cranberry sauce was different, and there was no pumpkin OR pecan pie, but I had a really good time. His wife is Russian and they had a Russian singer and his accompanist, which was not totally traditional American Thanksgiving (not at all, actually), but it was nice to have something to do with friends on Thanksgiving.

-Last night, I went to a Hot Hot Heat show at the Nouveau Casino. The venue rocks, the opener was terrific, and Hot Hot Heat was absolutely rad. I rocked out and danced around the whole time, and then we went to our bar across the way to chill. The lead singer and the bassist came over for drinks, and we ended up talking with them for a bit. After that, we spent a few hours hanging out and requesting music (we started a dance party with some random Dutch people and a couple of drunk French people. Lurve.). It was a really great night. I had the best time.

Hello! This marks the first Thanksgiving break without you in the same town, not to mention the same country. I missed you. Why was there Thanksgiving dinner over there? And did you say Red Bull was illegal there?
