EEE! Phone

L'iPhone est arrivée en France!
(from apple)
I left work for the night and nearly ran into a few people waiting outside my building (it's becoming a habit). What the frick! I thought to myself, as I noticed the people were part of a line that snaked from the Orange cell phone store down the block. I turned the other way and realized the line went almost to the Arc de Triomphe.

What the hell is going on! Celebrity something? Movie premiere? Then I audibly remembered ("Ohhhh!!")-- the iPhone was released today! The French have been bitching and moaning about not having the iPhone for five months, and finally Orange picked it up to sell as the only provider in France.

It really didn't get a ton of press, nothing at all like its release in the US over the summer. But there were definitely a lot of people waiting to get one at 6PM on a Wednesday night. I'm sure it will do just fine here.

It's not actually that 'Orange finally picked it up' - it's more so that the big 3 have spent the past five months arguing over who would get the sole rights to sell it in France, and Orange finally won out!
