Let's Do the Timewarp Again

Last night was the Rocky Horror Picture Show at Studio Galande. And it was H-Y-S-T-E-R-I-C-A-L.

I've never seen the movie all the way through, but Jess is a big fan, so we were extremely excited to go check it out. The thing about Rocky Horror is it's an interactive show, and there is a group of actors doing the movie on a stage in front of the screen. People bring water to throw during the storm scenes, rice for the wedding scenes, and that's just the beginning. There are things to yell (for example, every time Brad introduces himself, "asshole!"), dances to do ("The Timewarp", complete with pelvis thrusts), and scenes where men in corsets and fishnets climb on your lamp and start dry humping.

When we got there, we tried to sit in the fifth or sixth row, but the actor playing Riff Raff came over and asked us to sit in the front. That was eventually where we got violéed: Jess even got hoisted above the rest of the audience by her ass and pushed up against the wall. This was happening while the actor playing Rocky tried to take off my shirt.

It was soo fun: The audience was all French people, but the movie is obviously in English, so there was a ton of franglais and just switching back and forth. The actors made jokes and acted out the scenes (with strong French accents, of course) through the whole movie.

After that finished and we escaped before Riff Raff tried to drag us to drinks with the crew, Jess and I went to her new favorite bar in our neighborhood. We hung out with the bartenders and ended up leaving after close through the back door, getting bises from Georgie the bartender, who also comp'd all our drinks.

All in all, a good night.

Heyy, I almost went to see The Rocky Horror Picture show, just thinking it was a normal movie. From what I've heard since then, I'm glad I didn't because I would have been soo confused and surprised. If its showing in Chicago I will go see it with you!
